About the Author
Mohammad Ali Amir-Moezzi is professor of classical Islamic thought at the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes, Sorbonne University (Paris). He is also senior research fellow at the Institute of Ismaili Studies (London). His publications largely concern Shi'i Islam and the history of the Qur'an and include The Divine Guide in Early Shi'ism and The Spirituality of Shi'i Islam. He is also the general editor of Dictionnaire du Coran.

Book based on apocryphal readings of the Qur'an, contested even within the Shia tradition. Even the main argument of the book, the book of Sayirari is more akin to a historical joke than a historical text.For example, in the Sayiari's version the Qur'an essentially just forces in "Ali" in the middle of famous passages of the Qur'an, and makes mentions of imams. The reason for this is the fact that there is no mention of imamate in the Qur'an, while Shia believes it is one of the five pillars. This is just one of many example of the apocryphal tradition in Shiism, an example of which is tracing the genealogy of the prophet's donkey (see Ya'four) to Jesus's donkey.
