I was disappointed with this book. I expected more of a theological approach to the anticipation of receiving the Eucharist for the first time. Instead, it is a “‘Twas the Night before Christmas†like story focusing more on the preparations for the day (the outfits, the party, the family arriving from out of town, the priest telling them to get a good night sleep, the gifts) instead of the ACTUAL Sacrament itself. I bought it as a gift for my own daughter and didn’t even give it to her, returned it instead.
Adorable story. I can't wait to give it to my grandson.
Cute book, but written for a VERY young child. Perhaps First Communion is earlier than in our area. But this book is written for a 4-5 year old in my estimation. Our grandson is 8 years old. Another grandson will be 9 before his first communion in the state where he lives.
Purchased this for my daughter for her First Communion. A really enjoyable read. It covers preparation and what to expect the day of. My favorite part is how the book talks about the young communicant being nervous and how the statue of Jesus offers comfort.
Love the rhymes. Very enjoyable to read to children of all ages. We have the whole collection and read them for the associated occasion.
This was such a nice story for the night before my daughter's first Communion! We have the Night Before books for every occasion!!
The book is very cute. I showed it to both of my kids the night before their communion. It was perfect and gave them a visual of what to expect.
Not what I expected. More suitable for a young baby between 3&4 years old. Not a 7/8 year old. too baby(ish).
